One Person. One Therapist.

Therapy that fits the problem, not a template

Individual therapy is the core of what we do at Let'sTalk! Counseling. It is a weekly or biweekly 50-minute session with one licensed therapist, focused on you: what is not working, what you want instead, and the specific skills and understanding that get you there.

Because we are a group practice with 13 therapists and supervised associates in one Carrollton office, we can match you with someone who specializes in your concern rather than whoever has the next opening. If the fit is wrong, say so. We will switch you, no awkwardness.

Sessions are available in person at 4125 Fairway Dr, Suite 130 in Carrollton, and by secure telehealth anywhere in Texas. Most clients start within the week.

What We Help With

What adults come to us for

The most common reasons people book individual therapy here. Each card links to more detail on that concern.

How We Work

Evidence-based, and matched to you

There is no single "talk therapy." Your therapist uses the approach with the best evidence for your concern, and tells you why.

CBT & DBT skills

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for the thought and behavior patterns behind anxiety, depression and burnout, plus DBT skills for emotion regulation, distress tolerance and boundaries. Structured, practical, with homework that fits real life.

ACT & mindfulness

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy for people who are tired of fighting their own minds. Reconnect with what matters, make room for hard feelings, and act on values instead of anxiety. Includes practical mindfulness training.

EMDR & trauma-informed work

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing for trauma, PTSD and trauma-driven anxiety, alongside Internal Family Systems and somatic approaches. Several of our therapists are EMDR trained, including EMDR Level 2.

Your Therapists

Our therapists who see adults

Nine of our licensed therapists and supervised associates work with adults one on one. Here is who does what, so you can ask for the right fit on the first call.

What to Expect

What individual therapy looks like with us

No couch, no silence, no guessing. Here is what actually happens.

1

Free phone consult

A short call to hear what is going on, answer questions about insurance and scheduling, and match you with the right therapist.

2

First session

Your therapist gets the full picture: what brought you in, what you have tried, what a good outcome looks like. You should leave with a sense of whether the fit is right.

3

A plan you both agree on

By session two or three, you will know the approach, the focus and a realistic timeline. Nothing vague.

4

Weekly work + skills

Most clients meet weekly for 8 to 20 sessions depending on the concern. Between sessions you practice what you learned, and we adjust.

5

Maintenance & the door stays open

As things improve, sessions space out. You leave with a relapse-prevention plan and the option to come back for a tune-up.

Insurance & Rates

Most insurance plans cover individual therapy

We're in-network with Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, United Healthcare, Optum, TRICARE, Magellan Health, Beacon Health, and Humana. Individual therapy for anxiety, depression, trauma and related concerns is a covered mental health benefit under nearly every commercial plan in Texas.

Prefer not to use insurance? Self-pay sessions are available. Call (972) 885-1222 for current rates, or read our rates and insurance guide. We verify benefits before you book.

Common Questions

Individual therapy, answered

The questions people ask before their first session. If yours isn't here, give us a call.

With insurance, you pay your plan's copay or coinsurance, which we verify before your first session. Self-pay sessions are available too; call (972) 885-1222 for current rates. Our rates and insurance page explains superbills and Good Faith Estimates.

Sessions are 50 minutes. Most clients meet weekly at the start, then every other week as things improve. Couples intensives and EMDR sessions can run longer.

Tell us what you are dealing with and any preferences (gender, age range, in-person vs online, faith or cultural background). We match you based on specialty, not just availability. If it is not a fit after a session or two, we switch you.

Both work. Research on CBT and most talk therapies shows telehealth is about as effective as in-person for adults. In-person is at our Carrollton office; telehealth is available anywhere in Texas.

Mostly questions and listening. Your therapist wants the whole picture: history, what is hardest right now, what you want to be different. You are not expected to have it figured out. You should leave knowing what the plan is.

Yes, with the legal exceptions every licensed therapist in Texas follows: risk of serious harm to yourself or others, abuse of a child, elderly or disabled person, or a court order. Your therapist will walk you through this at the start.

It depends on the concern. Focused work on anxiety or a life transition is often 8 to 16 sessions. Depression, trauma and long-standing patterns usually take longer. Your therapist will give you an honest estimate early and revisit it.
